TTTS FUNDRAISER WITH FRANSONETTE SLABBERT

This amazing woman based in Cape Town, South Africa reached out to the TTTS Foundation in October 2021. Fransonette has recently started running marathons and has a huge desire to raise awareness for TTTS since losing their darling twin boys, Nicolaas and Henre in 2015. 

The journey through grief is much like that of running a marathon. There are ups and downs, moments you want to give up, moments you feel you are winning, but the lessons learnt along the way last forever. 

28th August 2022 is the day on which the world renowned Comrades Marathon, known as the 'Ultimate Human Race' is taking place in Durban, South Africa. Fransonette has chosen this month for her Daisy Baby Run Drive. She has always dreamt of running this race! Unfortunately an injury occurred whilst she was training which has forced her to change strategies. However she won't ever give up and will continue to run as many marathons as she can in her Daisy Pants.

How the TTTS Foundation started...

TTTS, including TAPS, SIUGR and TRAP is like a tornado. You never know when it is going to hit, but you hope and pray that you will never be at the centre of the storm. 

When twin Matthew Steven was several months old, he helped his mom plant daisies by seed holding onto a little spoon together. Once they grew the seedlings, they planted the seeds together in their back yard where they created Matthew and Steven's Field of Daisies. They continue to grow and spread over 32 years later. 

The Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation is the first and only international 501c.3. nonprofit organisation solely dedicated to providing immediate and lifesaving educational, emotional and financial support to families, medical professionals and other caregivers before, during and after a diagnosis of twin to twin transfusion syndrome including TAPS, SIUGR AND TRAP. 

The Official Awareness Ribbon is baby blue because we are fighting for the day after the storm, when the sky turns blue and all the babies will survive and be healthy and
thrive like daisies flourishing in a field. We will not settle for less.

When you wear this ribbon, you are wearing the love for the babies over your heart and the hope and promise kept for a cure. It is all about the babies not the disease.

The fight against TTTS, including TAPS, SIUGR and TRAP is ongoing and will not end. The fight, one day, will be won.

We want peace. With God's help and direction, we will get it.

To honor, love, and remember our babies, we wear baby blue over our hearts with two or three or more daisies representing how two or three babies or more come from one and are forever eternally together as one. Two or more babies. One ribbon. One hope for a cure.
